Desjardins’ current investigation into the disclosure of personal information they hold, now includes credit cards held by Coast Capital members.

Desjardins announced December 10, 2019, that after further investigation of the unauthorized disclosure of information by their former employee in June 2019 affecting its caisse (banking) members, they have extended the scope of their investigation to include credit cardholders served by Desjardins. This includes Coast Capital Visa cardholders.

Please note:

It is important to note that the credit cards themselves were not compromised and members' PINs, passwords and security questions remain secure, and as such you can continue to use your current credit card.

This is just a precaution as there is no evidence showing that the information accessible to the former employee was actually shared outside Desjardins.

Information potentially disclosed:

• first and last name
• date of birth
• social insurance number
• address
• phone number
• email address

This matter has no relation or impact on Coast Capital members’ accounts and products held by Coast Capital.

What is being done to protect Coast Capital members?

Desjardins will be sending a letter in the coming weeks to Visa Desjardins cardholders who potentially could have been affected to explain what's happened and what actions they have taken to protect members.

All Coast Capital members who currently hold Visa Desjardins credit cards will be automatically enrolled in Desjardins' Identity Protection which includes Equifax Credit Monitoring Service.

For former Desjardins Visa credit cardholders, Desjardins will pay for 5 years of the Equifax credit monitoring service.
